Dog Photography FAQs

Here you will find answers to some of the most common questions I am asked about Wild About Dogs Photography. My aim is to make every step of the experience clear, relaxed and enjoyable for both you and your dog.

If you cannot find what you are looking for here, just get in touch. I will be happy to help.

Before Booking

  • I live in the Shropshire Hills near Church Stretton and most of my photoshoots take place in this beautiful area. I am also happy to travel further afield. Travel fees may apply for locations more than 25 miles from Church Stretton.

  • All sessions take place outdoors in natural settings - either a favourite spot of mine or somewhere special to you and your dog. The season you choose will influence the look of the photographs, from the fresh colours of spring to the rich tones of autumn.

  • Yes, although cats or smaller animals are usually best photographed at home rather than on location.

  • If your dog is ill or in their later years, please let me know when booking. I will do my best to prioritise your session so that you can capture these important memories.

  • Not at all. Energetic, shy, confident or quirky. I work with all kinds of personalities. Leads can remain on throughout the session, and I can usually edit them out afterwards.

During the Photoshoot

  • We will meet at the agreed location and take things at your dog’s pace. The session usually lasts 60–90 minutes, with plenty of time for breaks. I will capture a mix of portraits and action shots so you’ll have a varied gallery to choose from.

  • That is absolutely fine. Many of the dogs I photograph remain on-lead throughout the shoot. With careful editing, the final images will still look natural and relaxed.

  • Yes! I can photograph multiple dogs in one session and will capture a mix of group shots and individual portraits.

  • A simple flat collar or harness works best. I recommend avoiding decorative clothing or accessories, as the focus should be on your dog.

  • If the weather looks unsuitable (heavy rain or very hot conditions), I will be in touch to rearrange for another date. Light rain and cloud can actually make for great photos, so we’ll only reschedule if it is really needed.

After the Photoshoot

  • Yes. I carefully edit every chosen image, enhancing colour and light and removing any distractions such as leads or background elements where possible.

  • Within two to three weeks of your photoshoot I will arrange a personal viewing session at your home. You will see 10 to 20 fully edited images for the first time, alongside examples of print and wall art options.

  • Once you have placed your order, your chosen prints and wall art are usually ready within two to three weeks. I personally deliver all products to ensure they arrive safely.

Pricing & Payment

  • The £85 session fee is payable at the time of booking to secure your date. This fee includes your consultation, photoshoot, professional editing and personal viewing session, along with a £50 credit towards your chosen wall art or collection.

Artwork and products are selected and paid for during your viewing session. Payment can be made by bank transfer, card, cash or cheque.

  • Travel within 25 miles of Church Stretton is included in your session fee. For locations beyond this distance, a travel charge of 45p per mile may apply. Any travel costs will always be discussed and agreed in advance.
